Rob Ninkovich sat in for the noon hour of Dale and Keefe on Monday and discussed Rob Gronkowski confirming the report that he threatened to retire rather than be traded to the Lions.

After the game on Sunday night, Gronkowski was asked about the report an admitted, "Yeah, it happened. Brady's my quarterback. That's all. Wasn't going anywhere without Brady."

On Gronkowski just coming out and confirming the report, Ninkovich said he might not have meant to say what he said.

“I think they asked him a question and it caught him off guard,” he said. “ … After the fact he probably thought, ‘Dang, I shouldn’t have said that.”

"At the end of the day it is a business and we are just numbers,” Ninkovich also said. “Everyone in the game knows that … (Gronkowski) is the best tight end and you hope it doesn’t affect him mentally. And knowing Rob it doesn’t.”
