AROUND THE WEB:

-- Jeremy Roenick has been fired from his role at NBC for joking about having a threesome with his wife and colleague Kathryn Tappen in December.

Roenick posted a video to his Twitter on Wednesday to explain the news, saying he is “angry” and “disappointed” with NBC’s move.

While appearing on Barstool Sports’ Spittin’ Chiclets podcast on Dec. 19, Roenick talked about a trip to Portugal he took with his wife and Tappen last summer and made comments that some found offensive.

“I was the king of Portugal,” Roenick said. “When you walk into every place and you have two blond bombshells on each side … your chest pops out a lot more.”

He then said a woman approached him to ask if his wife and Tappen were both with him, to which Roenick replied, “Yes, they are.”

“And then Kathryn says, ‘Will you shut up?’ She starts yelling at me,” he continued. “I play it off like, you know, we’re going to bed together every night, the three of us. Now, if it really came to fruition, that would really be good, but it’s never going to happen.”

Roenick was suspended indefinitely without pay last month for the comments and Tappen released a statement following that suspension.

“While Jeremy and I continue to be good friends, what he said was unacceptable,” she said. “Especially among workplace colleagues. I do not condone his comments.”

-- Rob Gronkowski is, of course, retired from football but it sure looks like he’s still in playing shape.

Gronkowski was seen walking out of the ocean in Miami and people noticed his body is still ripped.

Meanwhile, his girlfriend, model Camille Kostek, announced this week she is returning to Sport Illustrated’s Swimsuit issue this year.

QUOTE OF THE DAY: “I have a lot of memories in Boston. Obviously, I’d say the most fun is the World Series. But, you know, from the debuts to ins and outs of everyday being around Boston, I have so many memories. That was a great chapter in my life for sure.” -- Mookie Betts, on the Red Sox, upon being introduced as a Dodger
