-- In an attempt to remain somewhat relevant, Jose Canseco is starting a wrestling career.

Canseco has signed with World Class Revolution Pro Wrestling, the organization announced on Monday.

“Professional wrestling and our other avenues of business have enabled us to start becoming a multimedia company which has always been our goal,” CEO Jerry Bostic wrote in a statement. “We’re starting to effectively combine pop culture with our wrestling product and we’re seeing great results thus far and we’re just getting started. I would like to personally thank both Jose and his agent Morgan for this opportunity to do business together.”

World Class Wrestling holds events like OklaMania, Rise of the Revolution, When Worlds Collide, Clash at the Cotillion, and Day of Destiny. It’s not yet clear what Canseco’s role will be.

The former MLB star most recently served as an on-air A’s analyst for NBC Sports Bay Area but he lost that job in December after he tweeted a cryptic comment criticizing sexual harassment victims.

QUOTE OF THE DAY: "Obviously I appreciate it. This is a big honor. This hasn't happened very often and in a long time." -- Chris Sale, on being named the American League starting pitcher for this year’s All-Star Game
