-- The baseball world has been coming out in droves to show support for David Ortiz after he was shot in the Dominican Republic on Sunday and Terry Francona is now speaking out.

Ortiz’s former manager, and current Indians manager, spoke about Ortiz before the Indians game on Tuesday.

“He’s a very special person, not just to me, to a lot of people,” Francona said. “And I know he’s in great hands. I actually spoke to the doctor today and he couldn’t be in a better place or with better people.”

He also called the former Red Sox slugger  "extremely endearing” and said the doctor who is caring for Ortiz also took care of him and reiterated that Ortiz is in the best place possible for care.

-- More MLB players and athletes showed support for David Ortiz since Sunday's incident, with Jackie Bradley Jr. saying he is happy Ortiz is up and walking around.

Glad to know @davidortiz was up and walking around today! Keep on pushing! You have so much love and support. Now get back stronger so I can bear hug you my brother --
