The Bruins’ summer-long negotiation with restricted free agent defenseman Charlie McAvoy is over just a couple days into training camp.

McAvoy agreed to a three-year contract extension Sunday. He will be a RFA at the conclusion of the deal in 2022, unless he signs another extension.

TSN NHL insider Bob McKenzie was the first to report the agreement.

The Bruins now have just a few million dollars left to work with to get a contract done with RFA defenseman Brandon Carlo.
