Beecher, Studnicka sure to be centers of attention at Bruins development camp

Thirty-four players will descend on Warrior Ice Arena this Wednesday through Friday for the Bruins’ annual development camp.

Listen to your team news NOW.

All on-ice sessions are open to the public (see schedule below).

Among the prospects that will garner much of the attention at this camp will be two centers: John Beecher and Jack Studnicka.

Beecher was the Bruins’ first-round pick (No. 30) last week in Vancouver. Although the Bruins took him a little ahead of where he was ranked by many prospects experts, Boston sees him as part of the future solution to their post-Patrice Bergeron, post-David Krejci problem. Spectators should be wowed by the 6-foot-3 teenager’s skating considering how much everyone is raving about it.

Studnicka was a second-round pick in 2017 (No. 53) and last year he tried to challenge for the third-line center job, even traveling with the Bruins on their preseason trip to China to play in exhibition games. He was sent back to junior, but after an 83-point season with Niagara and Oshawa he should be back this fall challenging for a NHL job. This development camp will be a chance for him to stand out and also emerge as a leader now that he’s at his third development camp.

Here’s the rest of the Bruins roster:

Forwards: Samuel Asselin, Jack Becker, John Beecher, Matt Brown*, Nathan Burke*, Casey Dornbach*, Curtis Hall, Mike Hardman*, Jakub Lauko, Matias Mantykivi, Drew O’Connor*, Quinn Olson, Justin Richards*, Linus Sandin*, Jake Schmaltz, Pavel Shen, Oskar Steen, Jack Studnicka, Nate Sucese*, Nolan Walker*, Marek Zachar*
