It was one thing for fans to call out Delaware North Company and the Jacobs family for its lack of a response to the call for help from employees of the Bruins and TD Garden that are being financially affected by the coronavirus pandemic.

It was another thing for some to start a GoFundMe fundraiser for the employees, and it was another thing for members of the media to shake their fists at DNC and chairman Jeremy Jacobs.

But now criticism of the Jacobs family has come from a higher source in the person of Massachusetts Attorney General Maura Healey.

Healey took to Twitter Thursday with her reaction to a Boston Herald article about TD Garden employees not knowing if they will be taken care of at all while the games and other events are being postponed or cancelled by the pandemic.

Emails to both a spokesperson for the Bruins and two spokespeople at DNC did not receive a response Thursday afternoon.

As Healey noted in here tweet, the Bruins are the last of the 31 NHL teams to not make a gesture in support of their employees. But it should be noted that silence from DNC affects more than just employees of the Bruins and TD Garden. DNC, based in Buffalo, N.Y., is described on its company website as having “operations on four continents, serving half a billion guests a year.”

The website goes on to explain that DNC “manages and provides food and beverage concessions, premium dining, entertainment, lodging, and retail at many large venues and special places. These include sports stadiums, entertainment complexes, national and state parks, airports and casinos.”

As for sports, DNC serves “more than 60 sports and entertainment venues,” including MetLife Stadium in New York, Wembley Stadium in London and Olympic Park in Melbourne, Australia. Airports, parks, gaming institutions – you know it, DNC services it. And yet there’s been no gesture from DNC to make arrangements for its employees at such a difficult time in the world.

So this issue goes well beyond the Bruins and the NHL and it will be interesting to see when (if?) DNC or Jacobs himself responds in kind and what that response might entail.
