(Mike Petraglia/WEEI.com)[/caption] FOXBORO -- With trade deadline rumors swirling around, the Patriots returned to the practice field Tuesday to get a head start on the 3-4 Redskins this Sunday at Gillette Stadium. The most notable returns were those of defensive lineman Chris Jones and linebacker Dane Fletcher. Both are on the team's PUP list but their appearance Tuesday in uniform starts the clock ticking on their activation from the reserve list to the active roster. Brandon LaFell returned to practice in a similar fashion on the Wednesday before the game against the Jets but wasn't activated until the Saturday before the game. As was the case with LaFell, the Patriots can practice Jones and Fletcher but don't have to include them on the injury report until they are officially promoted to the active roster. The Patriots have 21 days after their appearance on the practice field in uniform to activate them to the roster. An official injury report is not expected until Wednesday as teams are only required to release three official practice participation reports during a game week. Meanwhile, three active players were missing from practice altogether. Defensive end Jabaal Sheard (ankle) and offensive linemen Marcus Cannon (toe) and Tre' Jackson (knee) were not spotted as the team worked out in shorts and shells outside Gillette Stadium in the very mild 65 degree weather. Sheard has missed the last two games after injuring his ankle in the win over the Colts. Cannon was also injured during the win over Indianapolis and has been out the last two games. Jackson injured his knee in the second half of the Thursday night win over the Dolphins. DraftKings DraftKings has your shot to play for FREE in the $1 Million Fantasy Football Contest THIS SUNDAY!
