Al Horford says Celtics accusation of 76ers tampering is ‘kind of ridiculous’

A recent report indicated the Celtics weren’t too pleased with Al Horford being tampered with prior to the NBA’s Free Agency Moratorium — even though the Celtics began their pursuit of Kemba Walker well before the official June 30 start date.

Of course, with Horford ending up in Philadelphia, it seems Boston could have been complaining specifically about their Eastern Conference rival.

In his appearance on the “Dan Patrick Show” on Monday, Horford was asked if he “feel(s) tampered with.” He didn’t say no, but he did express the Celtics’ actions were unnecessary.

“Well, what can I say? It’s just, to me, kind of ridiculous,”  Horford said. “It is what it is. I mean, you know Danny. I love Danny. You know, Danny was always really good to me and I know that he was definitely frustrated (that) things didn’t work out with us.”

Again, Horford doesn’t say Boston’s claims are incorrect. But he’s not wrong that it’s a bit hypocritical of the C’s to complain, given how quickly Walker agreed to a deal with the team at the start of the Free Agency Moratorium — and the rumors that preceded.
