Saturday’s game between the Mavericks and Heat barely started before Luka Doncic’s night came to an end due to a gross injury. The superstar injured his right ankle in the first quarter when he stepped on Miami rookie Kendrick Nunn’s right foot while driving to the basket.

Listen to your team news NOW.

The Mavericks ruled Doncic’s injury as a right ankle sprain. X-rays were negative, but he did not return.

Dallas still put up a fight against Miami, losing 122-118 in overtime.

While they’re absolutely an easier opponent to face without Doncic, the Celtics can’t take the Mavericks lightly if he’s out for their matchup on Wednesday. Tim Hardaway Jr. (28 points, 50% shooting vs. Miami) and Kristaps Porzingis (22 points, 14 rebounds) will be the guys Boston has to focus on first if Doncic is sidelined.

After Saturday's game, Rick Carlisle said Doncic was able to put weight on his right ankle.
