The first official day of Red Sox spring training is on Wednesday, though there have been unofficial workouts leading up to the start of camp. Pitchers and catchers are already in Fort Myers. They had their physicals on Tuesday.

But there will be one pitcher whose start to camp is a bit different than others.

Chris Sale. He is sick.

“That’s going to slow him down,” Red Sox general manager Brian O’Halloran said on Tuesday. “But, other than that, he’s fine.”

O’Halloran was then asked to clarify if “fine” meant Sale was at “full health (and) ready to go,” other than the illness. The Red Sox GM confirmed that was the case.
