Coronavirus: Warriors will host first NBA game without fans, Mariners working on resolution with MLB

San Francisco’s mayor issued an order “prohibiting all large group events of 1,000 or more persons, effective immediately,” on Wednesday due to concerns over the coronavirus outbreak. With the Warriors set to host a Nets on Thursday, this put Golden State in a position where they had to make a decision.

The official Twitter account of the Chase Center, the Warriors’ home arena, then announced Golden State will host Brooklyn on Thursday, as scheduled — but without fans.

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski is also reporting Thursday’s game is only the beginning for the Warriors:

Meanwhile, the Seattle Mariners are trying to figure out where they will play their home games throughout the outbreak.

The organization announced it is discussing the matter with the MLB Office of the Commissioner. The Mariners are trying to find “alternative plans” for games scheduled at their home stadium, T-Mobile Park, for the end of March.
