Although Magic Johnson doesn’t work for the Los Angeles Lakers anymore, he’s made it clear he still has their best interests in mind. The most recent example came during his Monday appearance on ESPN’s “First Take,” when he expressed who he feels the Lakers should go after in the off-season.

“I would say Kawhi (Leonard) and Kyrie (Irving) are the two guys,” Johnson said. “One of those two.”

Johnson isn’t the first to propose the idea of an Irving-LeBron James reunion. ESPN’s Brian Windhorst recently said on his podcast “Brian Windhorst & The Hoop Collective,” “I think it’s on Kyrie’s board. He has had discussions with people about playing with the Lakers.”

After being questioned about his proposal, Johnson doubled-down that the Lakers could get either one, whoever they decide is the best first option. The main reason: their superstar forward.

“Once you get in the room and you got LeBron sitting there, see, everything changes,” Johnson said.
