Leading up to the 2019 NBA Draft, no one could seem to pin down exactly when Carsen Edwards and Grant Williams would be selected. Some mock drafts had Williams going sooner than No. 22, which is where the Celtics took him, some had him going later. Same for Edwards (No. 33), though he wasn’t likely to go before Williams.

Listen to your team news NOW.

Both had a strong showing at NBA Summer League, despite neither making First or Second Team All-Summer League. But they clearly have everyone’s attention, including their fellow rookies, which could be why they’re viewed as some of the biggest steals of the draft — based on where they were selected — according to NBA.com’s Rookie Survey.

Edwards and Williams each received five percent of the vote in the category, as did Coby White (Bulls, No. 7), Nassir Little (Trail Blazers, No. 25) and Isaiah Roby (Mavericks, No. 45). Bol Bol (Nuggets, No. 44) and Kevin Porter Jr. (Cavaliers, No. 30) both received 19 percent of the vote to tie for the top slot.

Additionally, six percent of the voters felt Tremont Waters as the best playmaker in the draft. He finished tied for sixth in this category with Porter Jr. Memphis’ Ja Morant unsurprisingly led the best playmaker category with 40 percent of the vote.
