After being sidelined from Double-A Portland’s 8-7 loss in Trenton (Yankees) on Saturday due to minor left knee soreness, the Red Sox have returned Dustin Pedroia from his rehab assignment, effective Sunday, May 12. With the move, Pedroia will remain on the 10-day injured list.

Alex Cora expressed on Sunday he spoke with Pedroia on the matter and the conversation didn’t lead him to believe the second baseman was dealing with a major issue.

In his time with the Sea Dogs, Pedroia hit .250 (4-for-16) and split time between second base and designated hitter. The run with Portland was Pedroia’s second stint in the Red Sox farm system this season.
