Although the Long Island Nets found ways to stifle Tacko Fall at moments throughout Friday’s game, the big man still scored 16 points in 22 minutes. They tried to double him with a nearby guard once he got the ball in the post, which did throw him off at points. But the Nets couldn’t alter Fall’s shot when he went he went up. He was a perfect 8-for-8 from the floor (0-for-2 at the free-throw line.)

Fall also had 14 rebounds in the 111-102 loss — which snapped Maine’s seven-game winning streak.

The big man finished with two blocked shots. Normally, Fall directly impacts opponents’ shots more than he did Friday. He still altered Long Island’s approach, but the Nets used his size to their advantage by getting into their fastbreak as quickly as possible so Fall couldn’t be there to protect the rim. Other teams have tried to do so before, but they haven’t had much success.

Carsen Edwards was much improved from long-range in his 33-point performance. After going 0-for-6 from 3-point territory on Thursday, he went 4-for-9 in Friday’s loss. Overall, he went 11-for-27 from the floor. He also finished with seven rebounds and three steals.

Tremont Waters had a quiet scoring night by his standards. He finished with 10 points on 4-for-11 shooting (2-for-6 from deep). But Waters still did a bit of everything else, logging six boards, four assists and two steals.
