As the non-waiver trade deadline approaches on July 31, according to WEEI's Rob Bradford, it would have been "highly unlikely" that the Rangers would have made Adrian Beltre available if Red Sox pursued the third baseman. It would have taken "a lot."

The 38-year-old is seven hits away from a career 3,000 hits after going 4-for-4 in the loss to the Marlins on Monday. Beltre is batting .300 with eight home runs and 31 RBIs on the year. Beltre played for the Red Sox in 2010 and had a batting average of .321 with 28 home runs and 102 RBIs.

The Red Sox have been trying to fill the position at third base, but most recently called up Rafael Devers who will likely get his first major league career start at third base on Tuesday.
