Poll: Should Manny Ramirez have thrown out first pitch?

Prior to Wednesday's Red Sox-Braves game, Boston's 2004 Word Series championship team was honored. Manny Ramirez threw out the first pitch (which was intercepted by Johnny Damon). There has been plenty of discussion about the team's decision to choose Ramirez to receive the first-pitch honor, especially considering the player's despicable behavior later in his tenure in Boston. Ramirez on Wednesday apologized for "behaving bad" and insists he's a new man thanks to his newfound religious faith. Red Sox president and CEO Larry Lucchino told Dennis & Callahan that Ramirez was selected because he was MVP of the 2004 World Series. "There were so many people that could have thrown out the first pitch. Jason [Varitek] was the captain, Curt Schilling has gone through some extraordinary times these days, Pedro [Martinez] is always enormously popular and charismatic," Lucchino said. "But the simple fact is that we were honoring the World Series championship of 2004, and the MVP in the World Series was Manny Ramirez." Should Ramirez have thrown out the first pitch? [poll ID=82]
