Pre-game: Of thunder and sticks

It is factually inaccurate to credit the Angels and the residents of Southern California with the invention of the ThunderStix. I recall sitting in the bleachers for a World Series game at Yankee Stadium in 2000 or 2001 in which the very same inflatable apparati had been distributed. I do not remember what came off the game, but one image remains ingrained: a fan in my section, probably about 10 years old or so, smashed his brother in the head with a ThunderStik (or does the singular remain plural, like Red Sox)?  At any rate, we're hearing an awful lot of the hollow clap of plastic to start today's game. I wouldn't quite call it thunderous, but Angel Stadium is clearly jacked up for Game 2.
