Evan Ravenel, who was granted his request to transfer following his sophomore season at Boston College, has accepted a scholarship offer from Ohio State, according to a story in the Columbus (Ohio) Dispatch. Ravenel, a 6-foot-8, 250-pound forward, takes the scholarship vacated by national player of the year Evan Turner, who is expected to be the No. 2 pick in this month's NBA draft. Ohio State was the only school Ravenel visited after leaving BC. '€œIt'€™s a real tight family. Everybody looks out for each other,'€ Ravenel told the paper. '€œCoach [Thad] Matta is a different type of coach. I'€™ve never seen a coach so involved with his players. They work hard for him. I really like that.'€ Ravenel, who will sit out this season and have two years of eligibility remaining, averaged 3.3 points and 2.4 rebounds in 10.5 minutes off the bench for the Eagles in 2009-10.
