Red Sox ALDS Game 3 lineup: Jarrod Saltalamacchia returns, Daniel Nava gets first start

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- Up 2-0 in the best-of-five American League Division Series against the Rays, the Red Sox lineup will feature a pair of tweaks as the team looks to sweep Tampa Bay. With right-hander Alex Cobb on the mound (after left-handers Matt Moore and David Price) started Games 1 and 2, the Sox will feature Jarrod Saltalamacchia back behind the plate with Daniel Nava getting his first start of the postseason. Nava is replacing Jonny Gomes, who started the first two games of the series against the southpaws. The fact that Nava is in this position, as a middle-of-the-order hitter on a major league postseason team, is in itself somewhat remarkable, as explored in this column. On the mound, the Sox will feature right-hander Clay Buchholz. Buchholz has the third-best career ERA ever against the Rays among pitchers with at least 85 innings against the Sox' AL East rivals, with his 2.41 mark trailing only Mariano Rivera (1.69) and Pedro Martinez (1.99). The Rays, meanwhile, will feature right fielder Wil Myers -- a focal point at Fenway Park in the first two games of the series -- in the cleanup spot.
