Red Sox lineup: Ellsbury back, Jonny Gomes in left field

July 24, 2013 - 12:32 pm

After taking the second game of the series against the Rays, the Red Sox aim to separate themselves further in the American League East division standings with a win Wednesday night. Jacoby Ellsbury returns to the Red Sox lineup after getting a planned day off on Tuesday night. Jonny Gomes also gets the start in left field, his fifth in six nights. The Sox will have their hands full with Rays ace David Price (4-5, 4.03). Price, who missed the month of June due to injury, has returned to true form in July. Price is 3-1 and has posted a 1.97 ERA. He's fanned 23 batters while walking just one during that stretch. Felix Doubront (7-3, 3.76) looks to continue his recent dominance on Wednesday night. Doubront is 4-1 with a 2.47 ERA over his last ten starts. The southpaw hasn't given up more than two runs dating back to June 18, where he shut out the Rays over eight innings of work.
