Red Sox lineup: Jackie Bradley Jr., Stephen Drew sit against Orioles

June 09, 2014 - 11:33 am

BALTIMORE -- Stephen Drew has a long track record of tremendous success against Orioles starter Bud Norris, having tattooed him for a .462 average, .588 OBP and .769 slugging mark, primarily when both were in the National League. Yet Drew will sit and Jonathan Herrera will get the start at shortstop, despite Herrera's career .091/.231/.091 line against Norris. For the first time since a doubleheader on May 25, someone other than Jackie Bradley Jr. will start in center field for the Red Sox on Monday. The Sox will open their three-game series in Baltimore with Grady Sizemore in center. Bradley, who is 3-for-14 with a single, a walk and 10 strikeouts in his last 16 plate appearances over four games, will sit. David Ross (2-for-6 with a homer and two strikeouts against Norris) will get the start behind the plate for Jake Peavy, while A.J. Pierzynski is out of the lineup.
