Red Sox lineup: Stephen Drew at short, Xander Bogaerts sits vs. LHP Wei-Yin Chen

August 27, 2013 - 10:41 am

Though left-hander Wei-Yin Chen will be on the mound for the Orioles on Tuesday night, the Red Sox will have left-handed hitter Stephen Drew at shortstop, with the right-handed hitting Xander Bogaerts available off the bench. Drew was 2-for-8 with a homer and double against lefties on the just-completed roadtrip. That said, Chen has pronounced right/left splits this year, holding lefties to a .191/.245/.330 line while righties enjoy a comparably robust .262 average, .309 OBP and .405 slugging mark against the 28-year-old. Jonny Gomes will get the start in left (with Daniel Nava sitting), while Jarrod Saltalamacchia will be behind the plate to catch Felix Doubront.
