Report: Roger Clemens could call George Mitchell to testify

June 30, 2011 - 1:32 pm

Former US Sen. George Mitchell's report on performance-enhancing drugs was the beginning of the end for Roger Clemens. So it would only make sense that the former lawmaker would be involved in Clemens' perjury trial in  some fashion. But the surprising part is that Mitchell is not being called to testify by prosecutors who are accusing Clemens of lying under oath when he said he did not take PED's. Rather, it is Clemens's legal defense team that wants to call Mitchell, according to an AP report. The report hypothesizes that the defense wants to question Mitchell about the interviews he held with those who accused Clemens of using steroids and other drugs during his playing days.
