Reports: Patriots finalizing deal with WR Kenny Britt

December 12, 2017 - 4:28 pm

The Patriots got some help at wide receiver with Chris Hogan's return Monday night, although it didn't translate to immediate results, as Tom Brady didn't complete a pass to a wide receiver until the third quarter.

Now it appears there's more potential help on the way. According to ESPN's Field Yates, the Patriots are finalizing a deal with wide receiver Kenny Britt. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports the deal is for two years.

The 6-foot-3, 29-year-old Britt was released by the Browns late last week. He played nine games this season, tallying 18 catches for 233 yards and two touchdowns. That marked a big dropoff from his career season in 2016 with the Rams, when he hauled in 68 receptions for 1,002 yards and five TDs.

The situation bears some resemblance to the Patriots' signing of Michael Floyd around the same time last season (although the circumstances are obviously different). Floyd dressed for the Pats' final two regular-season games and first playoff game and totaled five catches for 51 yards.
