Just when it looked like Antonio Brown and the Raiders had made peace along social media firestorm from the wide receiver.

Brown, who had apologized to his teammates late this week for a very visible blow-up with general manager Mike Mayock, stirred things back up Friday night with a Facebook post that included what appeared to be a private conversation with Raiders head coach Jon Gruden.

Then came Saturday morning, when Brown took to Instagram to ask for his outright release from the Raiders.

And that’s fine ! I have worked my whole life to prove that the system is blind to see talent like mines. Now that everyone sees it, they want me to conform to that same system that has failed me all those years. “I’m not mad at anyone. I’m just asking for the freedom to prove them all wrong.” Release me @raiders #NOMore #theyputblindersonahorseforareason #NoMoreFake

Subsequent information regarding Brown's contract and how the Raiders' previous punishment may have impacted the player's guaranteed money potentially explained the change of course.

UPDATE: ESPN's Field Yates is reporting the Raiders have released Antonio Brown. Brown can sign with a new team as soon as 4:01 p.m. EST on Saturday, but can't play in Week 1.
