Remember Blake Swihart? He was just DFA'd by Arizona

For the second time this season Blake Swihart is being designated for assignment.

After parting ways with the Red Sox earlier in the 2019 campaign, the team that ultimately traded for the utilityman, the Diamondbacks, announced they are DFAing Swihart. Arizona has seven days to either trade him or place the 27-year-old on irrevocable outright waivers. If a team picks him up it will need to place the player on its 40-man roster.

Swihart never quite found a sustainable role with the Diamondbacks, appearing in just 31 games, managing a .136 batting average and .458 OPS while hitting three home runs. He never did catch a single inning for Arizona, manning the outfield in 18 of his 19 games in the field. (The only other position he played was first base.) As a pinch-hitter he was 2-for-15.

Swihart had just been activated from the injured list after being sidelined with an oblique strain.
