The awards season has begun early for the Celtics.

It was announced Thursday that Tremont Waters has won Rookie of the Year for G-League after his stint with the Maine Red Claws.

Waters became the fourth member of the Celtics' feeder team to win the award, following DeShawn Sims (2010-11), Tim Frazier (2014-15) and Abdel Nader (2016-17).

In 36 games with the Red Claws Waters, a second-round pick out of LSU, averaged 18 points and 7.3 assists in 33.8 minutes.

The two-way rookie, who appeared in 10 games for Boston, is expected to join the Celtics when they report to Orlando for the upcoming adjusted 2019-20 season.
