After a night of chaos, details regarding David Ortiz's shooting and current condition have emerged Monday morning.

Late Sunday night Ortiz's father informed reporters in the Dominican Republic that surgery performed on his son at Clinica Abel Gonzalez in Santo Domingo had gone well and that Ortiz was out of harm's way. Monday morning longtime Ortiz assistant Leo Lopez informed ESPN doctors were forced to remove part of the 43-year-old's intestines and colon while taking out his gallbladder. Lopez also stated the former slugger's liver was damaged.

As for the incident, Dominican Republic authorities have a suspect in custody, having classified the shooting as a calculated attack instead and not a burglary as was first reported.
