LOS ANGELES -- It was was one of the most memorable first pitches in some time.

Prior to Game 4 of the World Series, the Dodgers introduced Kirk Gibson as the honoree to throw out the first pitch. Gibson sprinted to the Dodger Stadium mound before being instructed to take his usual spot in the batter's box.

That's when a familiar face emerged.

Dennis Eckersley --- who surrendered one of the World Series' most memorable home runs 30 years before on the same Dodger Stadium mound to Gibson in Game 1 of the 1988 World Series -- was called on to throw the ceremonial first pitch with Gibson serving as his catcher.

Wearing an Oakland A's uniform top Eckersley stood in front of the mound and fired a strike to Gibson.
