The Red Sox have been presented with their first major hit when it comes to their Opening Day roster.

Manager Ron Roenicke confirmed Tuesday that Eduardo Rodriguez -- the presumed starter against the Orioles in the opener at Fenway Park July 24 -- has tested positive for COVID-19. Rodriguez, who hadn't made an appearance in Red Sox camp after having interaction with relatives who were ill, is feeling better, according to the manager.

Roenicke also noted that prospect Bobby Dalbec has tested positive for the coronavirus and is asymptomatic.

The two positive tests bring the number of Red Sox players who have contracted COVID-19 up to four, with relievers Josh Taylor and Darwinzon Hernandez already sidelined with the disease.

Any player who tests positive for COVID-19 must test negative twice at least 24 hours apart from one another, with no fever for 72 hours, before he can rejoin a team.
