LOS ANGELES -- Eduardo Rodriguez is getting his chance.

The lefty will start Game 4 of the World Series for the Red Sox after scheduled starter Nathan Eovaldi was pressed into action in Game 3, having to throw 97 pitches in his team's 3-2, 18-inning loss.

It will be Rodriguez's first start since Sept. 20, having pitched in relief six times throughout the postseason. He did appear in Game 3, facing just one batter while throwing six pitches. His longest outing of the playoffs game in Game 1 of the American League Division Series in which Rodriguez finished with 31 pitches.

The other option for the Red Sox appeared to be Drew Pomeranz, who was one of two Red Sox players -- joining Chris Sale -- to not appear in Game 3.

Rodriguez went 13-5 with a 3.82 ERA in 23 starts this season.
