Before Sunday the last time Hanley Ramirez hit a home run he was playing for the Red Sox against the Blue Jays at Rogers Centre in Toronto on May 12.

More than six months later, and seemingly a world away, Ramirez went deep again.

The former Red Sox first baseman/designated hitter hit his first home run as a member of Tigres de Licey in the Dominican Winter League. The three-run homer came off lefty Framber Valdez. It came one day after Ramirez attended former teammate Christian Vazquez's wedding in Puerto Rico.

Ramirez didn't play in the majors after being released by the Red Sox on May 25, but has expressed a desire to resurface for the 2019 season. He is a free agent. In 44 games with the Sox Ramirez hit .254 with a .708 OPS and six homers.

Serving as Licey's designated hitter, Ramirez came into Sunday having gone 5-for-19 with a pair of doubles.
