Why the Patriots might draft: Kicker Rodrigo Blankenship

(The sports world has turned its attention to the NFL Draft. That means we have to figure out which players the Patriots might be taking in what promises to be one of the most important drafts in the Pats’ recent history. Each day until the Draft kicks off on April 23 we will give you some names that the Patriots might be calling.)

Name: Rodrigo Blankenship.

School: Georgia.

Position: Kicker.

Why the Patriots might draft him: He’s a really, really good kicker and they need a really, really good kicker. 

What is he good at: Kicking … More specifically, making field goals. Blankenship won the Lou Groza Award for the nation’s best kicker. In 2019 he made all 46 of his extra-point attempts and went 19-of-23 on field goal attempts (including five from 50-plus yards. He also managed touchbacks on 65 of his 85 kickoffs in 2019.

And then there is this: Blankenship not only has a unique look thanks to his trademark glasses but he has also separated himself via another avenue, releasing a rap song “ATD” which can be heard by clicking here.
