One of the leaders for the Patriots' defense was lost very early in the second half of the Super Bowl.

While helping make a tackle on the Rams' Todd Gurley on just the third play of the second half, Patriots safety Patrick Chung appeared to break his right arm. After being attended to by New England's medical staff, Chung walked to the locker room while wearing an air cast. He was almost immediately ruled out of the game by the team.

Duron Harmon took place at safety for the Patriots.

The Patriots led 3-0 at the time of Chung's injiury.
