The Red Sox have now won two games in a row, sitting one game away from sweeping the first-place Rays. For that, they can thank a dramatic 6-5 win over Tampa Bay Saturday night at Tropicana Field.

Some of the performances that helped the Sox creep to within six games of first-place were:

- Rick Porcello's best outing of the season, going 5 2/3 innings while giving up two runs.

- Andrew Benintendi's second-inning grand slam, giving the Sox an early 5-0 lead.

- Marcus Walden coming on with the potential game-tying run at third and one out and proceeding to strike out both of his batters.

- Michael Chavis' double in his first major league at-bat, setting the stage for Benintendi's game-winning sacrifice fly.

- Christian Vaquez's game-ending pickoff of Tommy Pham at first base.
