With Xander Bogaerts' availability uncertain following an injury to his left index finger Friday night, the Red Sox have recalled infielder Tzu-Wei Lin. The team sent reliever Robby Scott back to Triple-A Pawtucket in a corresponding move.

Lin struggled to begin his season with the PawSox, hitting just .188 through May 2. But since he has raised his batting average to .299 by going 40-for-116 (.345) with 10 doubles and three home runs in his last 28 games, hitting safely in 25 of those, including in 16 consecutive games from May 27-June 14.

Scott only appeared in one game since joining the Red Sox June 19, allowing two runs in 1/3 innings.

Red Sox manager Alex Cora classified Bogaerts as day-to-day after his team's win over Seattle Friday night, explaining that the shortstop was already due for a day off.
