Red Sox lineup: Rafael Devers, Brock Holt get their chance
NEW YORK -- Alex Cora is shaking things up a bit for Game 3 of the American League Division Series.
With the bottom of the Red Sox' lineup giving very little production through the first two games Cora is giving Brock Holt, Rafael Devers and Christian Vazquez a chance to see what they can do against Yankees starter Luis Severino.
Holt replaces Ian Kinsler at second base, while Devers subs in for third baseman Eduardo Nunez. Vazquez gets the nod behind the plate with Nathan Eovaldi pitching. It's been an effective combination with Eovaldi allowing just two runs in his 16 1/3 innings with Vazquez catching him.
While Devers and Holt are a combined 1-for-27 with 11 strikeouts against Severino, both were among the Red Sox' hottest hitters entering the postseason.
Also of note is Steve Pearce getting the start at first base with Mitch Moreland still nursing a hamstring ailment suffered Saturday night.
Here is the Red Sox' lineup with Eovaldi on the mound for the visitors:
Mookie Betts RF
Andrew Benintendi LF
J.D. Martinez DH
Xander Bogaerts SS
Rafael Devers 3B
Steve Pearce 1B
Brock Holt 2B
Christian Vazquez C
Jackie Bradley Jr. CF
