Another new name is joining the Red Sox' outfield, at least for the next month or so.

The team announced the signing of Cesar Puello to a minor-league contract with an invitation to major league camp.

The 28-year-old has played in 61 big league games, spending time with the Angels and Marlins in 2019. Before that he spent time in Chaim Bloom's former organization, Tampa Bay.

Puello can play center field, although he is considered best utilized as an above-average defender at the corner spots. His best run in the majors game during his 12 games with Los Angeles last season when the righty hitter went 16-for-41 (.390) with three homers.

If Puello makes the major-league team he will earn $625,000.
