The Red Sox' plan is coming into focus.

After signing first-round Nick Yorke to a signing bonus below slot, the Sox took the same approach with fourth-round pick Jeremy Wu-Yelland, whose signing was made official Wednesday. What is notable about the Wu-Yelland is how much money the Sox saved, allowing for above-slot offers to both third-round pick Blaze Jordan and fifth-rounder Shane Drohan. (Per sources, Drohan's deal is close to being announced.)

The 6-foot-2 Wu-Yelland, a left-hander, started the abbreviated 2020 with the University of Hawaii in good form, allowing just one run over 13 innings while striking out 16. He also pitched four scoreless innings against collegiate powerhouse Vanderbilt.
