So much for Wednesday night's drama at TD Garden.

According to a report in The Athletic, Kyrie Irving won't be joining the Brooklyn Nets when they take on the Celtics this coming week. The game represented the first chance for Irving to play in front of the Boston crowd since he left via free agency to the Nets.

Irving's absence is due to a lingering shoulder injury. The Nets are currently 3-1 in the guard's absence, with Irving having averaged 28.5 points per game throughout his first 11 contests. The next time Brooklyn travels back to Boston is March 3, with the teams playing at Barclays Center Friday.
