Umpire Angel Hernandez has epically bad night in Game 3

NEW YORK -- The interesting side-story for Game 2 was obviously Aaron Judge's boom box playing "New York, New York" while walking by the Red Sox' clubhouse after his team's win.

Game 3? That would belong to Angel Hernandez.

The first base umpire had three calls at first base overturned. Yes, THREE!

Making the poor performance even more noteworthy is the fact Hernandez is scheduled to serve as the home plate umpire for Game 4.

He has never called balls and strikes for a Rick Porcello-pitched game, but has served in that capacity four times over Yankees' starter CC Sabathia's career. In the four games, Hernandez has been Sabathia's home plate umpire, the lefty has allowed just five runs over 31 innings. This season there has been just one game with such a dynamic, with Sabathia allowing just one run on five hits and a walk over seven innings.

Hernandez isn't a stranger to controversy, including suing Major League Baseball for racial discrimination. For more on the 56-year-old, click here.
