The Red Sox will step into Fenway Park for the first time in the 2019 season 4 1/2 games in back of the Tampa Bay Rays and five games under .500. Who would have thought?

This is Alex Cora's team's current lot in life, however, sitting at 3-8 heading into Tuesday's home opener.

The Sox' run differential sits at a minus-26, a number only the Colorado Rockies (minus-23) come close to. They have allowed 72 runs which are 53 more than the Rays.

At least they are on a one-game winning streak.

"We love winning," said Red Sox manager Alex Cora after Sunday's win over the Diamondbacks. "One thing for sure, we’re not going to get caught up on if you win it’s a relief and if you lose it’s life and death. We don’t play that here in this clubhouse. We know where we’re going. We know how good we are. We know that we have to get better. Like I said before the game, we learned a lot on this road trip but now that it’s over, hopefully when we talk about this road trip a few months from now, we’ll say, you know what, it was a learning experience. It made us better."
