With the Patriots off until training camp, we’re having a series featuring the 15 most important Patriots players for the upcoming season. The countdown will continue for the next several weeks.

Listen to your team news NOW.

No. 7: N'Keal Harry

Position: Wide receiver

2018 stats (with Arizona State): 73 receptions, 1,088 yards, 9 touchdowns

Why he’s No. 7: There's a good amount of pressure on Harry to succeed this season as a rookie with the Patriots. Not only because of the lack of depth at the receiver position, but also because he was the first receiver ever taken in the first round by Bill Belichick. The 6-foot-2 wide out is most known for his ability to make contested catches, but he also has showcased his talent of making plays after the catch. He also can line up all over the field, including in the slot. It will be worth watching how much is thrown on his plate right away and perhaps as a rookie he's only asked to run routes on the outside until he gets the playbook down.

Besides Julian Edelman and Harry, no wide receiver is truly a lock to make the team come Week 1, which shows how important Harry is to the success of the Patriots offense. There are a lot of unknowns like Demaryius Thomas, Maurice Harris, Dontrelle Inman, Braxton Berrios, etc., so it really is important for Harry to contribute and be a dependable No. 2/3 receiver option for Tom Brady. This is obviously easier said than done, but it seems like he's off to a good start with the chemistry aspect as he worked out at Brady's house with Edelman this spring and spent a lot of 1-on-1 time with him at minicamp.
