Well, that was fun while it lasted.

After 24 hours of thinking Aqib Talib could be a member of the Patriots, it's not going to happen.

According to NFL Media's Ian Rapoport and James Palmer, the Broncos have agreed on a trade to send Talib to the Rams. Talib will reunite with his former defensive coordinator in Wade Phillips. ESPN's Adam Schefter adds it's just for a fifth-round pick.

It's hard to imagine the Broncos trading Talib to a big competitor in the AFC like the Patriots for only a fifth-round pick, so it's not a surprise the Patriots did not land him.

Talib reportedly wanted to be cut so he could have choose his next team, and his No. 1 choice would have been the Patriots. Although, since that report came out, another surfaced that the Rams were his second choice, so it appears he will be happy.

There have already been several major trades in the NFL and free agency doesn't begin for another week.
