Blues defenseman Carl Gunnarsson almost won Wednesday's Game 2 with two minutes remaining in regulation.

He ripped a slap shot that beat Tuukka Rask, but it hit hard off the post and no one was able to pounce on the loose puck.

But, the defenseman didn't get down.

“All I need is one more chance,’’ he told Blues coach Craig Berube before the overtime session, according to reporters.

It didn't take him long to get that chance, as he scored the game-winner less than four minutes into the overtime period on a one-timer that beat Rask.

Did he tell his coach this in the middle of the locker room? Nope.

The hallway? No.

At his locker? Wrong again.

“Craig Berube came in and said that he used the pisser after the third period, and Gunnarsson came and stood next to him,” center Oskar Sundqvist said. “And all Gunnarsson said to him was, ‘I just need one more chance.’ It’s true, apparently. It worked out.”

So, Gunnarsson really planned his game-winning goal at the urinal?

"Yeah, I can’t deny that," he said. "That’s where it happened. It makes it even more fun, I guess. It’s a good story.”
