In a stunning move, it appears Blake Swihart is done with the Red Sox.

According to Evan Drellich, Swihart has been DFA'd by the team. He likely will not pass through waivers, which would mean his time with the organization is over.

Swihart, 27, has played in 12 games this season and is 6-for-26 (.231) with four RBI. He was drafted No. 26 overall by the team in 2011, but hasn't been able to find consistent playing time. The team has tried him out at different positions besides catcher, but nothing has clicked with injuries playing some factor.

WEEI.com's Rob Bradford adds Sandy Leon getting recalled from Triple-A Pawtucket is the corresponding move. The veteran didn't make the Opening Day roster, but Red Sox pitchers have said how much they like pitching with Leon behind the plate because of the way he calls a game.

Red Sox starters are 2-10 with a 7.18 ERA.

Alex Cora will meet with the media this afternoon prior to the team taking on the Yankees.
