FOXBORO -- From a numbers perspective, it's been a fairly underwhelming start to the year for Brandin Cooks.

In the first two games, Cooks has totaled just five receptions for 125 yards on 11 targets, including two catches for 37 yards last Sunday against his former team in the Saints.

The 23-year-old seemed more pleased with his performance against the Saints than against the Chiefs. It also helps the Patriots won against New Orleans, but fell to Kansas City.

“Last week we won, that’s all that matters,” Cooks said Wednesday. “The week before, I look at plays that I could have made to help the team and put us in a better position to win. So in that aspect, I’m disappointed in myself. But that’s what work is all about, coming back and getting better every single day.”

Cooks seems to be patient when it comes to developing chemistry with Tom Brady.

“One practice at a time, like it was [on Wednesday]. One play at a time,” said Cooks. “Continuing to just come on, and getting on that same page as fast as possible, is big.”

Cooks and the Patriots will host the Texans Sunday afternoon at Gillette Stadium.
