FOXBORO -- Bill Belichick is in playoff form.

At his Wednesday press conference, the coach was asked a specific question about the Chargers' wide receivers, but the reporter didn't realize they have two wide receivers with the last name Williams.

Here's how the exchange went:

Reporter: Do you see any similarities with Williams and Allen?

Belichick: Williams?

Reporter: Wide receiver.

Belichick: There’s two of them.

The coach eventually gave a response, which was full of praise for the Chargers' receiving group.

“Look, they have a really good receiving group," he said. "They are big, they are fast. They are hard to tackle after the catch. They make big plays down the field. Both the Williamses [Mike and Tyrell], I think they are averaging 15 yards a catch, something like that. [Travis] Benjamin is obviously an explosive guy that can score from anywhere on the field. Keenan Allen is as good of a receiver that there is in the National Football League — big, quick, tough after the catch, hard guy to tackle. Very good route-runner, exceptional route-runner. Great hands, concentration. They have a great group of receivers. Good group of tight ends, good group of backs and he uses all of them. It’s not one guy you have to stop. Clearly, Allen has been the most productive receiver by far, but don’t take anything away from any of those other guys.”

In the regular season, Allen had 97 receptions for 1,196 yards and six touchdowns.
